This small (8” x 7.5”) and somewhat hazy drawing was completed for a figure drawing class, and it depicts Mary reading on a covered couch*.

In posing for the reference photo, Mary was thinking about The Blue Room by Suzanne Valadon, but she kept the book in her hand for the sake of more interesting angles.

*The couch’s cover was its only means of protection against a rambunctious spaniel puppy.
